Grill(s) owned
  1. Deck Boss 590
Thinking of ordering this for my deckboss . Anybody have experience with it? Also considering their smoke tube and injector. Typical recteq quality or no?

I’ve got one. Onions, bacon, sausage, pizza, burgers. It’s big, you can’t hide it in your cabinets or oven when not using it. You can bring it in and have a 4 or 5 burner flattop on your stove. I just store it and my grill grates in the smoker when I’m not cooking.
I run on Lo extra long at the beginning of cooking and get plenty of smoke, no need for a tube.

Thanks for the info. Recteq said it fits my 590 deckboss what grill are you using it on

1070 (it's in my sig ;))
There are other griddles being discussed in other threads. We have some real afficionados of all things on this board.
If you have some extra cash, the nice people here can help remedy that problem for you.

I’ve looked at those griddles, but wondered about the holes along one edge. Does the grease drip through and cause flare-ups?

I haven't had any issues. When I put it on my gas grill I only use the slots between burner flavorizer bars, on the smoker I have a homemade ramp that directs it to grease tray. Smash burgers rule

I think I saw that they sell grease trays to go with them. They correspond to the 3 different sizes of that griddle style. So it’s probably intended to go under those slots…although I would think a flat grill surface would make its use unlikely. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Since mine sits on the grates a tray under the grates just didn't make sense. If it fit your grill/smoker perfectly without using the grates it should work. I also considered a homemade "gutter" that hung on the slots under the grates but in the end I'm just not seeing enough issues. I endeavor to keep the desire for perfection from eliminating good enough. Otherwise I'd have bought the gorilla grills griddle model

Did a little research on the Steelmade flattop units and found that they can be “custom” ordered without the drain holes. That revelation has moved it up near the top of my consideration list. It uses thicker stock than the Made In griddle and seems to get good reviews. Hmmmm.

So easily enabled....🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂

If this works well enough (mildly concerned about distance from griddle to gas flames on grill) this is huge. Instead of another expensive flat top grill, and the space it takes up, this may be the ticket.
I've already got too many grills, smokers and a pizza oven....

My grill grates have a elongated L shape. With the bottom leg of the L at the front the grate is 4" above the flavorizer bar. The grill has 4 tubes under the griddle. I run the left most on low, next on low medium, medium and medium. It gives me a consistent set of 3 zones. Back is hottest right to left because the heat is trapped back there, middle is next then the front is lowest. It took some testing to figure it all out and I still burn cheese sometimes. I'm playing with a pizza stone and inverted hotel pan for flatbreads.
