First cook, first grease fire

  1. Bullseye
I just got my Bullseye for Father's Day and did my first cook today. The chicken leg quarters were great (dry rubs: chili lime, honey garlic) cooked at 350F for about 1.5 hrs. I pulled them at an internal temp of 170-180F. After, I turned the grill up to RIOT to burn off the grease. I stopped it at a temp of 530F but by then it was too late. I just kept the lid closed and it burned out after a couple of minutes. Not that big of a deal but I won't be doing that in the future...

Any tips on cleaning up after a grease fire? I'm guessing a nylon scrub brush and soapy water wouldn't be too aggressive, right?

I bought a plastic small paint scraper. I use it to clean the kettle. I clean the kettle every two cooks unless something cooked had a lot it fat content. Hope that helps
