I prefer the flats, easier to handle.Just put my first brisket flat on. Small prime flat with SPG using Lumberjack pecan pellets and a smoke tube for extra smoke. Trying a small one befor I go for a full packer.
Update.Have smoked all the majors so far this summer on my 590 I picked up in June this year.

Last Night
SPG rub, and injected with Creole Butter. (Pic attached)
Today
0130 @ Xtreme Smoke ( LOW) setting. (which sat at 180°)
0900 was probing at 140° internal, bumped cooking temp to 225°(Pic attached)
1130 Probed at 160° internal (wrapped)
1415 Probing at 183°
