Folks might want to know that they need to have a Facebook account (I do not) and apparently need to join the linked group to view the video. So, having not viewed the video I can say that my approach has always been to set the low and slow temp under my desired cooking temp by 25-50 degrees, let the grill overshoot (which they have always done-my RT-700 is now 6 years old and doesn’t have any upgradable firmware. Then when it begins to settle down, I set the controller to the desired cooking temp. Back to the high temp observation, that appears to be an obsession with recteq these days. Who told them we want grills that heat to 1,200 degrees? I thought that when the first Bullseye got to over 700 degrees, that was nuts!Ray just did a video on Facebook about this. Apparently it is designed to get to temperature faster, but overshoots and then if you are cooking low and slow you have to wait for it to come back down. Whereas before it took longer to reach temperature. Bad decision in my opinion, this caters to people who are cooking at very high temperatures.
