I’m not having that problem with my 1400 but the GUI update that came with 5.1.5 make the GUI pretty useless. You cannot see the setpoints for either the grill or the probe/food on my iPad

I wonder if they bother testing or are the users the beta testers. I’m ready to look at a a roll-back or looking at 3rd party options

Two users with only 4 posts total, complaining about yet another’ issue’ with recteq. Did either of you contact recteq directly?

Numbers of posts is relevant to the noted issue, how?

I think this is meant to indicate a call to RT is in order. This is not an RT affiliated forum so any help request are field by the users rather than the mother ship. FWIW

Oddly enough, I had this issue several weeks ago. I called Recteq and expplained what happened. The first thing I was asked was: Are you using Pit Boss brand pellets? They said that they were seeing a rise in the problem that I described and that the pellet brand was one thing in common. We got disconnected and I called back, got someone else who ran me through calibration steps and said everything should be good now. I asked about the pellets and this tech knew nothing about it. I'm going to smoke a turkey breast tomorrow so we'll see if the issue continues.

I understand completely that recteq doesn’t have all the answers, however they should be the first people to contact when there is a problem. I’m pretty confident that there is no one on this forum that can successfully address a firmware update issue.

So the way I read posts I often wonder if a topic related to "firmware" is really that or the app version. To my point, here is how I think of the teams "firmware" and "software" aka what we call the app in general. This comes from an organization that use to know a thing or two about such things.

You are absolutely correct. I will say though, if I have a problem with something Recteq related, I would come here to see if it's just me or if others are experiencing the same thing. I just had another firmware update for my 700 LOL, we'll see if I have to come back tomorrow when i go to smoke that turkey breast! :ROFLMAO:

I think Forrest Gump said that too. “Life is like a box of chocolates; you never know what you’re gonna get.”
That’s been revised (coming from someone that lives at the end of the South Carolina Avenue of Oaks that Forrest ran on) ‘Dating today is like a box of chocolates. You never know which one comes with nuts’.

Ray just did a video on Facebook about this. Apparently it is designed to get to temperature faster, but overshoots and then if you are cooking low and slow you have to wait for it to come back down. Whereas before it took longer to reach temperature. Bad decision in my opinion, this caters to people who are cooking at very high temperatures.
