I just got a 590 and have been cooking up a storm. After a few cooks, my wife and I noticed a fine dusting of ash throughout the grill. Which I assume is from the burning of wood pellets. Since it was everywhere we were a little concerned that it was getting unto our food. In fact, on close inspection of the food, we did find the ash on the food as well. I was wondering if anyone had some thoughts on this positive or negative.

Nothing to worry about. You would get the same thing if you were to smoke with stick burner.

I wouldnt go dump your food into a bucket of ash, but little bit wont harm ya..

I've have found if the grill is too clean or new and not seasoned you may get some wood pellet ash deposited on the food, it's wood ash dust and it's not going kill or cause you any harm. The best thing I've found to prevent this is almost to neglect cleaning the ash out of the bottom of the grills barrel, you need maintain the fire pot ash build up occasionally and I perform this I throw it into the bottom of the grills barrel.
