Hello, new to the Recteq club, previously owned a few different Traegers. What's you folks methods for properly seasoning your grills? Do you oil the outside as well? I feel it made my Traegers outside last longer. Let me know! Thanks.

I don’t have a dual fire but I did follow the RT instructions.

Apologies in advance for the presenter but

And welcome to the forum.

I followed the burn in instructions. I was just curious if anyone has done something different for the seasoning of the grill. Rub all the grates with high temp oil, or anything like that. Or is that unnecessary?

Only the burn in first cook. Nothing to the outside. You will love it!!

The dealer I purchased my backyard beast told me to spray duck fat on the inside of the barrel to help the burn in. I also use the duck fat to spray on steaks. Spray the steaks with the duck fat, put them on the beast at 600 degrees for four minutes, turning the steaks every minute, then put the steaks on the warming rack and bring them to 130-135 degrees, then cover them and let them rest for 8-10 minutes.

Your dealer must not pay any attention to the RT advice? Seems odd to recommend something not sponsored by the OEM.
