Trailblazer Direct vs. indirect heat

The fire pot is in the middle of the RT-340 - why is it not considered direct heat like the Bullseye?

It is in the middle of the 700 Bull as well as the 590 I would imagine.

The difference is the heat deflector and drip pan that block a lot of the direct heat.

The Bullseye just has a heat deflector.
