Got your boots on, @Greg Jones? Looks like Hurricane Debby is hitting the SC coast. Hope all is battened down at the new place on St. Helena Island.

Nope; it is scheduled for delivery tomorrow between 11 am and 3 pm.

I will be selling “naming rights” to help recover some of my investment. If it works for baseball stadiums, why wouldn’t it work for grills? :ROFLMAO:

@Jim6820 I know you usually cook small, but maybe you can indulge us with a side by side cook and review.
Not sure I can do an actual side-by-side cook, but after I get a little experience with the new grill, I will do my best to provide a fair comparison between it and the RT-340. Right now, what I know is that the cooking surface on the new grill is the same length (22”) but is deeper (19.5” vs 16”). The major difference is the cooking chamber headroom; 14” on the MAK, 7” on the RT-340. The extra headroom allows additional racks to be inserted, providing much greater cooking surface and the ability to easily place a drip or water pan under the elevated cooking surface. More to follow.

EDIT: I’d like to move further discussion of the new MAK All-Stainless Two-Star General back to my original “New Grill on the Way” thread.

Yup, we (the Lowcountry) got hit pretty hard, about 12” of rain at our place. I believe @TheRicker got the worst end of it in Charleston. Some of their streets had 1’ of water in them. Picture of my front yard.

I forgot that @TheRicker was in that area too; maybe others. Sorry that you got hit so hard, but as long as you are safe, that’s a blessing. Prayers offered up for all affected.
Our biggest challenge is that we are in the middle of a major change in raising the elevation of the right side of the house. The blue tarps you see were not there before the storm hit. We’ve literally lost new drywall on the walls, ceiling, and sections of what was new hardwood floors. The water even shorted out the new digital front door lock. Setting us back major $$ and time to competition. But God is good, we are safe, and we’ll work through it.

It’s a great sunny afternoon to appreciate our blessings. The wife is taking a walk on the beach, spotted two dolphins swimming (no pic), this ‘fisherman’, and an osprey on a man-made lookout post. View attachment 22417View attachment 22418
It is a minor set back with a bright future. Yes it sux now but the days ahead will be brighter and, while not forgotten, a foggy memory. Oops I have had a few of those, but only, ok not only, but several on rides through Georgia, SC, NC and Ten, on the bike. Head high and best wishes.

Yep…I was a bit preoccupied this past week. 🤭

Other than a few small(?) isolated tornadoes around midnight Tuesday night, there's been very little wind...but a ton of rain. I think we received about 12” where I live West Ashley. Other areas got more. Moncks Corner, north of Charleston, got 7” - 9” inches more Thursday night for a total of 19” or so for the week. One tornado tracked about 1/2 - 3/4 mile from my house. It must have been a “touch and go” type as it didn’t leave a solid swath for the 3 miles or so it tracked. Just spotty damage along its path.

The neighborhood I'm in now is newer and the drainage well-engineered. That said, I'm sure some other neighborhoods are suffering from it.

Parts of Downtown CHS are a mess.

With the storm past, the creeks and rivers are starting to flood as the water subsides and drains. Parts of some (mostly) backroads have washed out. Part of eastbound I-26 just north/west of Summerville flooded in an area they building a new interchange. Edisto River expected to flood in a major way over the next several days. It’ll probably take a couple of weeks before all the creeks and rivers get back to any sort of normal.

Miraculously, no reported deaths in the SC Lowcountry from this storm as far as I know. 🙏🏼

We received about 23” of rain from a tropical event in 2015. And us old timers will never forget Hurricane Hugo in 1989…worst weather event in my lifetime in CHS.

All said, I’ve got to give kudos to our state and the multiple local governments working together and in very efficient and effective ways to manage people, processes, and communications to get us through this exceptional situation.

Hopefully, I’ll get around to cooking some thing on my Bull this week. 😊

Another flash flood warning out for us, and they have recorded record levels of water on the Ashley river in Charleston with more rain on the way there as well.
