Has anyone tried to purchase the new cast iron heat deflector to replace the older model on the 700?

Yes, I did
And RT said "NO .... For now, they are only available for warranty replacement on Models that came with one"
That sucks on several levels
Dang, that's too bad. I got lucky that my Weber died the last week of a great bundle deal on the Bull two weeks after they upgraded the deflector and auger motor.

I would give it time and just keep trying. I personally don't see the need for it but eventually they will let you buy it.

A lot of us kept trying with the 3.0 auger motor in new Bulls and RT-1250.....I got one :)

They have entirely different supports in bottom of the barrel. I suspect you would have to either estimate where to place them, or perhaps the old supports are in the way. Or if you are handy, you could remove the old supports, and fabricate new ones. ???
