9/15/2020 Update: Per recteq the CORRECT auger minimum feed rate is 65.

There was an error with some grills shipping with a preset of 30, this value is INCORRECT. The correct value is 65, as stated in the user manuals.

@Mastertech59 and @Mike I just talked to Rec Tec about an issue and then asked him about Auger settings. I told him that a couple of new grills are being received with Auger preset of 30. He said the factory preset is now 30 on all newer grills being shipped. He is not sure if they are going to correct the owner's manual or not but he was going to bring it to their attention in that department. I also asked him why Auger settings valve in the owner's manual says 65 and everything else says 6.5. He says the manual and control panel reads the whole number of 65 and the app is a percentage valve of 6.5. They are not going to change the app to read the whole number.

The wait for the new Stampede has to be killing you.
@Mastertech59 LOL, not really. I think the wife is. I just know we are going to go thru big growing pains. Going to take our time putting her together. I want to install on the lid 1/2 x 1/8 inch Fireblack gasket before the initial setup procedure. Also before initial setup want to seal up the smoke vents too. Not sure if I am going to use 1 x 1/8 inch Fireblack gasket or red hi temp RTV gasket maker. I have both. The competition cart looks like it is going to be a PITA to install along with the two stainless steel folding shelf brackets. I have a board cut to fit that will go in the cart's bottom for a shelf. If it don't fit right it will put us in delay putting the cart together till I get another board cut and painted. I used the cart's dimensions in the RT accessory site to guess what size to cut the plywood. The front wooden shelf will not be ready in time to install. I have the board but I want to find a wood worker to route the edges for me and then we need to stain it. I don't have a router. We may be a week putting this rascal together. Also, I am pretty sure the Wifi is going to be lots of fun getting her setup. I have an Orbi Mesh router that will not let me setup separate 2.4 and 5 GHz SSIDs. Will probably have to get my cell phone into 2.4 GHz mode to set up the controller. I don't know why in the hell Rec Tec has the Wifi setup this way. If the controller Wifi setup was straight to the router instead of the cell phone it would be no issue. Or if there was a Web site base Wifi setup along with the cell phone app it would be no problem. Also I may have to get another Orbi satellite and put it in the garage for better signal strength. Sorry to rattle on. And OH, have I ever mentioned we don't know how to cook on a smoker!! LOL

@charlesrshell if you have trouble connecting to your WiFi get as far away from your nodes as you can. When the 5 ghz band gets weak it switches to 2.4 ghz. You may need a longer extension chord ;-))

Thanks @Waterboy . Yep, I already figure I will have to go through that scenario to get my cell phone into 2.4 GHz mode. What I am concerned with, will my cell phone stay in 2.4 GHz mode as I get closer to the Stampede parked in my garage!

Sorry if I wasn’t clear but I meant you would need to move your grill as well (thus the extension chord).

I would think I will have to walk a least a 100 feet from my house to latch on the 2.4 GHz in my cell phone. I would need a long extension cord or a battery pack for my Stampede to tag along with me. This will be quit a site to see. My neighbors will think I am nuts. LOL

I've updated the first post to include an update. The correct feed rate is 65 - NOT 30 as incorrectly set on some grills by accident.

Thanks to @charlesrshell for providing this update.

I think a lot of folks, like me, dropped this down to 30/35 when the weather turned hot. I've been thinking of putting it back to the preset now that it's cooling off, anyone else doing so?

Sorry for the wrong info fellow forum members that I posted back in July. I called RT to ask again about the factory auger preset speed because my new Bullseye recently received the preset speed is 65. My Stampede received 31 July the preset speed is 30. I asked RT why some of the other grill models recently received the preset is 30. She said a few had gotten shipped with 30 setting and some folks may have changed the setting by mistake with the app. She said whoever told me back in July the preset was changed to 30 was incorrect. I think there is more to the story but who knows for sure. Anyway, my apologies.

I run my Bull at 30, the lowest minimum feed rate it will go all year long in the NW Connecticut area, always holds temperature in all ambient temperatures.

RT had me lower my feed rate to 3.5 when I was having trouble keeping steady temps. Since then I had to replace my controller, and the one RT sent me was pre-programmed to 3.5 (or maybe 3.0, I can’t remember). That controller ended up having a problem, so they sent me another new one, which also had the 3.0 or 3.5 default setting. So it seems that someone at RT felt a lower feed rate is best. Regardless, I don’t plan on raising my feedrate unless I start having a problem maintaining setpoint. But I live in Florida, so I shouldn’t have much cold weather to contend with.

Just got off the phone with RT about the feed rate - my stampede came @3.0. He said it should be no problem leaving it there even with the cold Wisconsin winter right around the corner since it is the minimum rate setting only. He said it does not affect the normal auger speeds in anyway - it only extends the minimum.

Kinda makes me wonder now why then would it ever need to be set higher...my guess is it might cool down too fast in certain situations? Will have to ask about that next time...

Gumbee I have to turn my feed rate down to 3 in May to keep temps down on low and slow cooks. I am in Sconnie also.
