The notifications got better and for the whole summer have been awful! This was 5 minutes after I pulled the food off the grill.

In the realm of networks and communications, there’s latency…that delay between something actually occurring and the moment you are informed about the occurrence. That problem could be the signal between your grill and your network, between your network and your cell provider, or between your cell provider and your phone. Just sayin’ there’s multiple points of delay and/or failure.

I’d make sure that both your cell phone’s WiFi signal with your home(?) network is strong AND you have “cellular data” turned on. Make sure both signals are good. That provides two potential paths for notifications to get to you.

Standing next to your grill, does your WiFi signal look strong on your phone? That can be an indicator whether your grill is seeing a strong signal.

I’ll stop there for now. Let us know the results of any checks you perform.

I will make a not so big stretch as can be seen in this forum over many years, the latency is from the com between grill and your device and centers on the RT servers. Watch you cook graph and you can see it.

Just got this email from RecTeq-

"At recteq, we take immense pride in our customer service and product reliability—it’s what makes us who we are. So, when we see areas for improvement, we want to address them directly and transparently.

We know some of you have experienced delays in app alerts during peak activity, and we hear you. When we introduced our first Wi-Fi controller in 2018, we shifted from being just a grill company to a technology company overnight. Seven years later, our recteq family has grown faster than we ever imagined. As a result, we’re working hard to upgrade our entire notification system to ensure the recteq app remains best in class.

We also know some recteq XP achievements haven’t been awarded correctly. While that’s separate from the notification issue, an upcoming update will ensure everyone gets the recognition they’ve earned.

This weekend will be our first chance to test our new notification system, but we expect there may still be some delays. Rest assured, we are working every day to deliver a seamless and dependable experience. We appreciate all the feedback regarding our app and thank you for being a part of the recteq family."

Hopefully this results in their app not being, IMO, worst in class.

Just read the email myself. My translation, ‘We know we’ve screwed up in this area, don’t be surprised when you have issues durning peak times on Super Bowl weekend, but we are working on it.’ My interpretation is if you first noticed a problem 7 years ago, you waited too long to start to acknowledge/address it? Why I mentioned in an unrelated post earlier this week that a) my Bull is up and cooking great food for me in its new home and b) I’m not connecting this to the recteq app anymore. Great hardware, lousy software. Other companies have figured out the technology a long time ago.

I bet it was from the short guy 😁

Just got my email, but it was apparently delayed several hours after others received theirs. Coincidence?!?
As was mine. Maybe they were debating the need for a Prop. 65 warning? I bet CA encourages one. I'm with Greg. I use the app to keep an eye on temperature but that is about it. Notifications rarely work.

@Greg Jones I am with you and will reply also but first I need to chil 🤣

I will give recteq credit that, as far as i can recall, this is the first time they have publicly acknowledged this, especially right before what is likely one of the top 5 grilling weekends of the year.
That is step one. I hope they went out and hired real systems folks that can show them the light and more so that they listen. Then invest before others pass them by if they haven’t already.

Finally got my e-mail this morning, so I guess I have now been informed. Doesn’t matter much since I haven’t used the app in a couple of years. TW Signals tracks my cooks for me, though their RFX wireless probes are making inroads.

Just remember they are on step one of a twelve step process that will be transparent. Probably more like 🫥

I wasn’t getting an email and wondered if Recteq removed me from their mailing list. Turns out my latest iOS update provided some really good AI. It recognized the BS in the email and sorted it to the junk folder!
