Any clever way to prevent this?

Has anyone found a clever way to prevent rain water from collecting in the grease bucket besides removing it after every session?

I’ve found the Smokebox to be perfect for this, but I understand that you are seeking a more practical solution. On my RT-340, I would just remove it and put it inside the grill. There are also larger aftermarket buckets if you want to stretch out when you have to dump it.

Probably not helpful, but I just broke down and bought a couple of buckets. When I'm done with a cook, I swap out the "full" bucket with the clean one as I know I have to ultimately deal with the full bucket anyway. I keep my stuff covered at least during this time of year with unpredictable weather, but a clean bucket with water in it is considerably easier to deal with than watery grease "soup".

I have seen covers on Etsy and actually someome posted an attachment that acts as a cover/rodent preventer on this forum but I am not finding it on Amazon.

Edit: I just remove mine, trash the liner and slide it under my Blackstone culinary grill cart shelf.

I remove mine, but I wonder if a metal coffee can lid or the lid for a citronella candle would fit. Might make for an interesting trip to the grocery with a tape measure

Or maybe upgrade to one of the empty paint mixing cans and hang that. They come with lids, and a snap in pour spout would attach

I assumed all relatively easy solutions, ziploc, foil, latex glove, shower cap, saran with rubber band, press n seal etc were already tried and rejected
I figured put foil over the tube and can to be able to use it and keep water out without removing and replacing a can only cover....

I just make it a habit to place it inside the smoke chamber after every cook. I was having the same problem - this resolved it.

Seems to me with my common sense and "clever" minded brain, that a proper grill cover is the easiest and most logical solution. :geek:
Let's not make this simple 🤣🤣 What is the world coming too, simple geez. I will say, that does work as well. Proof is when my bride covers the grill, she never removes the bucket.

Drill a hole 3/4” from the top, silicone in place a tube leading to a big bucket on the shelf underneath your grill. Nice thing is you can keep adding buckets serially so long as the next one drains lower than the one next to it.
Plus you can use the saved water for your lawn, the green new deal
