How to do the Rec Tec wheel mod

To ME, for that, it's not. First off, my time is worth something. For the other $215, I'd rather have my time, the 4 swiveling and locking wheels that the Competition cart gives me, the 1 year warranty, the wider, sturdier base that the Competition cart offers, and something which is factory...

    Stampede Comp Cart Mods

Nice. I have the comp cart and have been considering something similar.

Stampede Grease Drain Plug - Rodent Prevention

I understand. Each to his own. Slightly lifting the right grate and removing the socket is not a problem for me. I don't have to take out the drip pan. I simply raised it a tad on the right end and drop the socket. Then let the drip pan wedge between the socket and the lip which holds the...

Stampede Grease Drain Plug - Rodent Prevention

If I had wanted to be mean, I could have turned it the other way in the same direction as the hole. That way, once he made is way up the tube he wouldn't be able to back his way out of the socket nor chew his way forward. But trapping him inside the socket would be a bad idea. The stench...

Stampede Grease Drain Plug - Rodent Prevention

You guys are way over thinking this matter. You only need something thick and heavy on the inside. And with the drip pan wedged against it. If he can move that or chew his way through it, well then I'll let him in myself.

Stampede About to buy one...do you regret not getting the RT-700

#18 Can't say it any better than that. I have 6 cookers at this home. I don't miss having the additional space of the Bull at all vs my RT590.

Stampede A Review of the New Stampede Competition Cart and Front Shelf

Don't know who you are apologizing to for not being a "fan boi", but it's likely not necessary. Everyone is going to have likes and dislikes when it comes to virtually any product. Perhaps a thoughtfully worded letter to Rec Tec might go a ways towards addressing said complaint about the...

Stampede About to buy one...do you regret not getting the RT-700

I have no regrets not getting the 700 over my 590. The RT590 is plenty big for my needs and I also have other grills as well, and so no need for the Bull at my house. The 590 is almost overkill for me.

Stampede A Review of the New Stampede Competition Cart and Front Shelf

No way they would be able to sell what would amount to a Rec Tec Stampede with the competition cart for $899.00.

Stampede Build quality 590 vs 340

I clean every grill I own after each use. My Kamado, my Kettles, my WSMs, and definitely my Rec Tec. I always start a cook with a clean fire pot or fire bowl, and all ash vacuumed from the cooking chamber. And a freshly foiled drip pan. I have never had a problem with my Rec Tec starting up.

    Trailblazer Is it just me?

3-2-1 is a guideline. Not a rule. 6hrs for ribs, depending upon the temperature, might be too long. Finally, skip the foil and use butcher paper instead. Foil traps in all moisture and your ribs will become mushy because they are essentially inside of a tightly wrapped crock pot when yo wrap...

    Bull Bull for two

Agree with the above. I own a Stampede and a Kamado Joe as well as a couple of Webers, Smokey Mountains and Kettles. I won't hesitate to use them all at the same time if I need to cook multiple foods at different temps. This is why the Bull wouldn't work for me over the Stampede. For the...

How do you clean your grates?

The technique I show above, works just as well in the kitchen sink and under home lighting as it does in that plastic tub and under natural sunlight during daylight savings time. It not only can be done "after" every cook.....But, if one should so choose, it can actually be done "before" the...

How do you clean your grates?

Soap and water either in the sink or in a plastic tub, with a Scotch Brite Stainless Steel scrubbing pad. Anything else, I've found to be a total waste of time for these grates. And believe me, I have the wire brushes, the wood scrapers, the balled up foil, etc. The warm to hot soapy water...

    Rec Tec material

Good points as always Bob. Excellent points. FWIW, I had a discussion with one of the owners of another pellet grill made of stainless steel. The discussion moved around to this subject. Owners of that particular grill, as well as the company which makes it, are quick to tout the American...
