Very salt forward. Reminds me a lot of While Lightning, if you have ever tried that rub. Next time I’ll use less of Blanco and add some black pepper.
I’ve really been happy with Holy Cow on all beef for awhile now, and I may just stick with that.
I’ll also mention that I still have a B-380, also sealed, uncovered, and not used in over a year. The only problem I ever had with an auger freeze in 5 years of pellet grilling was when I spilled a drip pan inside it as there is no where for the water to go but directly inside the fire pot. Now...
There are some here that believe leaving a recteq out in the weather without a cover is a crime punishable by who knows what. Especially if there are pellets left in the hopper. I have two recteq grills (340 and 700) that have been left outside, without being used, since March 5, 2023 (not a...
I mentioned this steak earlier this week, but I never posted a follow-up. This is a 2.42# prime porterhouse cooked sous vide, then finished on the grill. I took the fillet side, the wife took the rest! We were both pretty happy. BTW, the wife is not a big fan of medium rare steak, so this was...
Once you wrap a brisket, you can finish it in your home oven if you wish. Nothing to be gained by continuing to keep it in your grill, other than it keeps your kitchen cooler in the summer.
Just watched their Friday video today, and that E-Series looks like a real winner, and priced accordingly. . Not everyone is wanting a built-in option, but if you are it’s worth a look. I guess I’m surprised they didn’t offer a stand-alone version like the 1070.
Not a helpful tip for those with legacy recteq models, but the best solution is to locate the grease bucket under the grill’s barrel. I see the newer recteq models do that now. Most competing pellet grills have done that for years. Best option available now for owners of the 700 series grills is...
The hardest part then becomes convincing the wife to stand there and hold the grates while you wash them! 😂 JK, glad that she doesn’t follow this forum!
I’ve been using a couple of remote 120v induction units for years. I’ll put together a post on induction in general, but as a spoiler I’ll say I love it. We don’t have gas service where we live, so electric is our only practical option. More to come.
I don’t normally fix scrambled eggs, but today I did three eggs with about 1+ tablespoons of butter on the HexClad griddle. Pictures are of the start of the cook, end of the cook, griddle with the eggs removed, and the griddle once wiped with nothing other than a dry paper towel.
PS: this is an...
The deal breaker for me is the ‘forgot’ part, which is exactly what I would do. I’d forget to remove the lid and 4 hours into a pork butt cook I’d wonder why my smoker has leaked fat everywhere!
