    Grate Question

I feel like this is a beginner question..... I have had my RT for 7 years along with a stable of other cookers. After every cook I clean the grate to the degree it almost looks new. I see some pits have grates that are so loaded with carbon they are black. Is this desirable? Is there an...

From Order to Delivery 3 Days.

I was surprised to be honest. I ordered a 1070 on Monday, got a shipping notice on Tuesday and it delivered today (Wednesday). I was pleasantly surprised, especially considering the out of stock status of almost everything these days. David

    Using a smoke tube.

I have an issue using my smoke tube. Each time I use it I make sure it is burning well. But, after I put it in my 680 it shortly goes out. ???? Pellets are fresh and dry. Lack of oxygen?? Anyone else experience this? David

I need some advice on checking/calibrating temp.

    1. Calibrated my Thermo Works thermometer with boiling water. 2. Started my RT-680 (has upgraded controller) set at 250, after it reached 250 I waited for an additional 30 minutes. 3. Placed the lead of the Thermo Works thermometer with a grate clip on the grate where I typically cook butts. 4...

My observation on the new Controller/App

So I used my RT-680 for 5 years with the original controller, never an issue. My wife knew I had been looking at the new controller and ordered it for my birthday (June 2021). I have done 10-12 cooks with it since. I have noticed these issues with the new controller/app since June. 1. It...

1st Brisket. aka Independence Day Brisket

First ever attempt. Only a 9 lb brisket. Wanted larger but it is one of the briskets from a cow I had butchered so it's what I had. Overall I was pleased, the bark could have been better and the flat was a little dry. Maybe because it was thin. On a good note the point was awesome. I...

Just a small simple tip I wanted to share.

Though I have a cover on my RT-680 when it rains it holds water in the area where the flat top of the hopper meets the round part of smoker barrel. I put a small (6 inch) children's ball under the cover in the area mentioned. It forms a "peak" if you will so the water can no longer collect in...

RT-680 Slow to come to temp since installing WiFi Controller.

This is only my second cook since replacing the original controller with the WiFi controller. On the first cook it seemed to take longer than before to come to 275* but I wasn't sure because I was doing prep. Today I paid more attention and it took considerably longer to come to temp than it...
