Just an update. While I was smoking an 18.5 lb brisket the other day and watching the temps and stall time it suddenly dawned on me why the cooks were so different on this 1250 VS my two Traegers. The briskets cooked faster on the T because of the constant temps shooting up. There was nothing...
I have the 340 as well as a 1250. The one thing I do when traveling is to pick a smaller brisket. Keep it in the middle away from the sides. I use a modified method of smoke for 5-6 hours at 180. I then bump it to 225 to the end. "Usually" around 11 hours. I say usually because I've had them...
I have had really good luck by putting the cover onstarting with the stack. Then working down toward the control shelf. That I leave after the cover is down on the rest of the cooker. It has enough stretch to ease it over the corners. There are a few sharp corners that you do have to watch out...
It was a 14 lb brisket. I did mention in the title. As to temp I forgot to save the graph so I don't have the exact data. Started at 4am at 180. boosted to 225 at around 9am, up to 240 at 3pm. Brisket finished at 8:00pm. Rested for 4 hours. It was one of my best briskets. First time I've used...
I was wondering if having a 14lb brisket and 3 racks of ribs on the top shelf normally slows the cook down a lot? Ribs I added at noon and were done using the 3-2-1 method and the brisket took 16 hours. My briskets usually take 12 to 13 hours. It seems that adding the ribs really slowed things...
As the one who started this thred, yes I'm not happy with Estes, but it did get straightened out. The grill is fantastic! It was everything I had hoped for. I too, looked at Yoder and Lone Star Grillz. All three are solid contenders, but the Recteq controller is Rock Solid. You won't be...
I received a note from Recteq that this was due to a server issue at Recteq. Apparently load related due to the holiday. Thanks to Recteq for the prompt response.
Update: The shipment was returned to Estes and handed off to the correct local service. Pallet was delivered on Tuesday. The local delivery guys were great. They called to confirm the night before. Nothing damaged so I was happy about that.
Harry Doss, Shipping Manager from Recteq stepped in...
Found out my shipment was mis-delivered on Monday. Back to Estes on Tuesday. Called today and they are not sure where it is. I understand delays, but for freaking just try and act like you care. I've resigned myself it will get dumped in my driveway someday. So the score is 5 calls to Estes with...
Found out today that yesterday Recteq switch their sales engine and rather than port all the old accounts over, they took the easy and cheap way out, deleted ALL accounts. Start over and oh yes, all your previous order data is gone. Nice, i'm thinking I should have gone with LoneStargrillz
