Yes. More accurate, reliable and comprehensive data. RT is not in same league as FireBoard. Probably why Yoder uses them for their cookers. I also use it for the fan control on my Weber kettle if I need to press it into service.
Thanks Buckeye. I like that option better than leaving my cooker on for three hours because I cannot turn it on remotely. Sometimes schedules are tight and remote start was a good option in that situation.
This bs doesn't pass the stink test. It would have been prudent to inform all the customers of the change via email blast or letter mail. I just found out about this bs while I was away from home and wanted to preheat my grill. This development is a deal breaker for me. I already have to use a...
My son got me a Meater for Christmas. After reading the instructions and threads like this, it will stay in the box. My Fireboard works every time and is dead on accurate. I don't want to spend one minute worrying if temps are accurate.
I will continue to repeat myself. The app and RT temp controls are essentially garbage. If you want to know whats going in that pit, you need an independent system. There are several out there that work flawlessly. I use a Fireboard system personally. One cook will show you what I am talking...

Threadcutter is spot on there. I only use the RT controller to turn it on/off and adjust the temps up or down. The rest of that hardware is more or less useless. Once you accept that fact and utilize a quality aftermarket temp reporting system, cooking will be much more fun and relaxing.
It has been my experience the past four years with a 590 and 700 that the temp reporting by the OEM controller is far from accurate. I quit using the RT temperature probes and now use a Fireboard. Now I know exactly what both my pit and food temps are. The crummy service failures on holidays is...
I discovered Yoder after I upgraded to a 700. Such a good deal, I couldn't pass up. Like Jim6820, I would not buy another RT. I quit using the RT app and use my Fireboard instead. Never a hiccup using that product. Yoder is brilliant for partnering with Fireboard for their product.
Claiming it and doing it are two different animals. Your experience with temp fluctuation is spot on normal behavior for RT units. I had I 590 and upgraded to a 700. Somewhere in there I ditched the app and began using my Fireboard for both pit and food temps.. The pit temp fluctuations became...
No warranty on mine since I bought it from an individual. Shouldn't have to lube it after one year, but a wheel is a complicated device and only been around since the Roman Empire.
