I was at Scheels a few weeks back and was very surprised to see Rec Teq grills on the floor. Not sure if they have anything to do with Ace. I go there because they have probably a 100 different rubs/seasonings to choose from.
I didn't survive but I did stay away from my hobbies. I spent way too much on the wife buying her Snoopy and Doctor Who stuff. The kids get mad if you give them anything but cash so don't have to worry about deals for them. Maybe I'm getting old but Black Friday just isn't "fun" anymore...
Lowes/HD seem to be clearing out the Loco griddles at great prices. I know some of the youtubers such as Meatchurch use them but I see some bad reviews online. I really do like the fact it has a digital temp but I think I'm just going to watch FB marketplace for a good deal on a used BS or...
I got my cutting board made locally. There are several local makers on facebook. I went this route so I could get the exact size I wanted and also wanted the juice grooves and it has rubber feet on it. I probably don't oil it as often as i should but then I don't use it that often. My...
Seems to be doing a lot better now. It has been staying between 34 and 38 if it isn't opened much. I think the main issue was the fact there wasn't much in there. Now that it is 2/3's full it seems to be doing fine. The real test I guess will be next summer when the temps are 105 every day.
Same for me. I do it with all my smoked meat, especially if it is just for me. If we are doing the family then it goes into a pot with bbq sauce for sandwiches. Plus when it is 105 outside you don't want to be adding a bunch of heat to the inside of the house!
It is strange, their website says no one in my area carries the pellets but I've seen them at 4 or more stores.
I will say this area is good if you are into bbq. There are at least half a dozen bbq only stores, though they mainly cater to the high end market. Not sure any of them sell a...
That is probably why they stay small, they can't keep up the supply if they expand. I've heard that has been Costco's issue since Covid. They sourced a lot of their beef from local/regional farms and I guess the farms are producing a lot less now and Costco has had shortages or had to switch...
They have built several of those over the last few years. They had one in Fredricksburg when we went last summer. No clue why they didn't build any in DFW. When the one opened in Frisco they had to have police there for the first 3 weeks or so to direct traffic. Other than having good...
I honestly don't buy much there. I like their steaks but most of my steak cooking is spur of the moment so I don't have time for them to thaw out. Now that we have an HEB, I just buy them there.
That is because the pay streaming services aren't turning much of a profit. The free/low cost ones with ads are doing much better, at least that is what I keep reading.
I don't know of any butchers around me, though I would guess there would be some. The few places I do know that opened over the years didn't stay in business. I'm guessing because of such high prices. A lot of their stuff is usually double what you would pay at Costco or HEB. Even though...
I'm guessing that is due to expansion and not being able to get enough quality meat to keep up with demand. They've opened up 6 stores in the DFW area alone in the last couple of years.
I've started buying mine at the grocery store, HEB. They carry B&B Charcoal wood pellets and have them in Post Oak which I had never seen before. Gave them a try and I really like them. They seem to give the meat a smokier flavor than any others I've tried. They are more expensive and I...
Looks like I'm going to have to call Best Buy tomorrow and see what they can do. I took out 6lbs of ground beef I bought at Costco Saturday to divide up and freeze and decided to check the temp with my thermopro. It was reading 44 degrees. Unless someone tells me differently I would expect it to...
