    Live edge cedar front shelf

My piece is 32” long and about 12” deep, 1” thick. The seller is very responsive and sent me pictures of a couple pieces to pick from. I also had him sand and poly the wood, so it was ready to screw to the hinges when it arrived. Just explain it’s for the same grill shelf that he made me and he...

    Live edge cedar front shelf

I spaced the wood about an inch off of the grill with it folded up, so there is plenty of room for airflow between the shelf and the grill. Hold your hand about an inch off of your grill, and you’ll see that not an incredible amount of heat is radiating off of it. Definitely not to cause the...

Here’s the link I think I paid $142 shipped. It’s cheaper if you just buy the slab unsanded and unsealed.

    Live edge cedar front shelf

Just installed my front shelf! I went back and forth on what wood I wanted to use, and settled on a live edge cedar slab. Cedar has great qualities for use outdoors, and i think is pretty easy on the eyes as well. I got this slab from MPKVisions on Etsy in case anyone is interested (no...

    All-Weather Smoke Vents

Easy, what I did was apply a thick bead to the vent itself and then carefully install the vent onto the grill. I applied enough sealant so that it pressed out on the inside and outside of the vent. In a couple small spots that were applied too thin, i just took some RTV on my finger and...

    All-Weather Smoke Vents

I was nervous about making a mess when I put red RTV on mine, but it was very easy. You have plenty of time to smooth it out and wipe any excess with your finger before it cures. It comes up easily from the stainless steel and doesn’t leave residue.

    Sealed lid and smoke vents

Tonight I sealed my lid with Fireblack 1/2”x1/8” high temp gasket, and sealed around my smoke vents with red high temp RTV. Previously I was getting a lot of smoke leaking from around the lid, which was letting the top of the cook chamber get filthy after only a couple cooks. I haven’t cooked on...
