We purchased a Stampede back in May. This was our first smoker and with trying to maintain deck space (we also have a Weber Genesis), this was a good choice for us. As far as cook space, I think it will be fine 95% of the time for your family. I am sure there will be an event in the future...

Congratulations on the upcoming purchase! We have a Stampede and a Weber Genesis as well, a great pairing like you said. Our Genesis has been rock solid for over 6yrs, and while we've only had the Stampede for a few months...I have no doubt it will serve us just as well.
