I have the 590, and over 2 years there were 2 times where I wished I had a bigger smoker…probably not enough to justify the larger space you need, and added cost.
if you have the space, and smoke for large groups a few times a year, I’d so go for it!
Yeah, I’ve only tried wings during the colder months, and I preheat to 180 for smoke, then after putting in the wings, 235F, and after about 2hrs, crank it to 400 for about 35min and the crispiest wings I’ve ever had! Also important to pat down your wings dry with a paper towel before applying...
All Costco steaks are blade tenderized…not sure how I feel about that. Officially, you’re supposed to cook them to well done to kill any potential pathogens from the blades.
I’ve always had super crispy wings. take out of packaging, pat dry wings with paper towel, then dry rub seasoning.
250 for 2 hours, 350 for about 45-60min, but flip them 1/2 way (right side of grill is hotter so bottoms burn slightly)
Smoking at 250, and finishing off wings at 325F and no issues at all with -4F temps and -15F wind chill! No need for welder blankets…the 590 handles Minnesota winters like a champ!
In your app, click control on the bottom, click on your grill, then settings icon on top right, then click minimum feed rate. Default is 6.5%, and I’ve found I’ve had to lower this at times because the grill was getting too hot (at high temps during summer, and low temps during winter), so I...
Auger rate set too low can cause flame out, then the temp drops, the grill tries to restart, shooting temps really high, and repeating the process. I would keep it at the factory rate (in your settings on the app) and see what happens. I do have to turn down the rate when it’s really hot...
Omg, only 170 temp? You want to aim for about 203F internal. Place the pork fat cap on top. When the fat cap splits (usually around 150-160 internal temp), warp in foil until 203. depending on when you’re trying to have dinner, you can increase to about 280 or 290, but I like to keep it...
With baby back ribs:
I smoke for 3 hours starting on xtreme smoke for 30 minutes, then 225 for the remainder of the time. Each hour I will quickly spray with room temp water or mix of water and apple juice. At the 3 hr mark, rub bbq sauce (I use something without high fructose corn syrup and...
