    Prime rib question

Outside cuts or cut and finish their slice to well done in a skillet. My SIL only ate well done beef when he first started dating our daughter. I obliged him but over time I would cook it less and less done. Now he loves medium rare/medium and doesn't know why he ever ate it any other way.

    Leave Sear Kit in?

Don't use a degreaser as this takes off the seasoning. Mild soap and water if you must clean them. I usually just brush them when done and leave on the grill.

    Bullseye Deluxe is a POS

We really enjoy our 380X. For quick small cooks, they are excellent. The longest cook I have done on it was ~6hrs. That was a brisket flat. For the larger/longer cooks I go with my 700. Meats and sides (complete dinner) is usually done on the 700. Burgers/wings/steaks/OTT Chili..etc. are...

    Brisket ,expectations

If you are trying to duplicate a restaurant......good luck. They probably inject it with a special recipe, use a secret rub, cook for X amount of time at X temp and then wrap for X amount of time at X temp. Probe every X minutes until tender. Remember, they cook A LOT of briskets at a time...

First cook gone slightly wrong… question

Foil for the rabbit ears. Duct tape can't fix stupid....but it can muffle it!:ROFLMAO::cool: EDIT: Sorry OP. Didn't mean to jump in to help derail the post. I have never done a sirloin tip yet. But as other's have posted, check the calibration on your probe, use a third party probe to verify...

Ruined St. Louis 3-2-1 Ribs - 1st try

I never thought of it as a Ratio. It does make sense if you use it that way. 225 to 250 is my usual cook temp. 225 if only a couple of ribs, 250 if the 700 is full (6 St. Louis cut ribs) Your actual cook "times" are very close to mine. My bark is usually set to my liking around 2hrs and the...

Ruined St. Louis 3-2-1 Ribs - 1st try

I have done 3-2-1 ribs with success and failure. As said before, every cut of meat will act different than the prior cut of meat. I no longer do 3-2-1. I usually cook at either 225 or 250 and wrap (either foil or butcher paper, depending) and go until probe tender. If I wrap in foil, we...

    Flagship 1100

Like you, I have a Masterbuilt electric smoker also. That was my first smoker and it served it's purpose but couldn't get over 275. So much more you can do at higher temps. You are going to love it and all the things you can do with it. I have a 700 and 380X and love both. I got the 700...

    Christmas Weekend Treat!

Great looking bikes. Even though I am not a Harley rider, I do appreciate all motorcycles. Here are my 2 rides 2015 GL1800 (40th Anniversary Edition) - Badlands, SD 2021 GL1800 - Beartooth Hwy, (Wyoming section going toward Montana. Approx 9500ft elevation in June 2022. And yes the lake...

    Blackstone

It depends on the person/situation. I use the 22" Adventure series BS almost daily for breakfast. I do sausage, bacon, toast, omelets, scrambled eggs, etc. with it. It's just the wife and I. We use the gas grill, 700 and B380X for our other meals. I have done stir fry and other similar style...

    The Leader Board?

Yep...and several restaurants use RT around here (Augusta, GA and the surrounding area). I use either my Bull or Bullseye X almost everyday for something. Today was the Bull's turn...Brisket Flat, Slab of ribs, smoked cabbage, smoked cauliflower.

    Yesterdays Adventure

I can get a little OCD at times. I use a Thermoworks Square Dot for my temp calibrations. Once the set temp is reached, it will do a 15min average to account for the swings in temp. I had to adjust the offset to get calibrated but at 250, my 700 (with the probe in the middle of the grill)...

    Charcoal Pellets

I use a 50/50 mix of charcoal and wood in my 380X. I have noticed a difference using them versus not using them. It is not significant as @C. Keeper pointed out, but it is enough for me to keep using them. I was using the charcoal mix in the 700 until I got the 380X. I only use them on my...

    Steak knife recommendations?

Check these out Cutluxe Knives on Amazon. I have their Shinobi series Brisket Slicing knife and love it. If you go to their site check out all the knives. They have different models and are priced accordingly.

    New 380X owner

Welcome to the forum! I am slightly new to the 380X. Bought it a couple of months ago. I found that it really likes to start at 225 and settle there before cranking up the temps. If I try to start it 350 or higher it has big temp swings. I also clean out the fire pot every 3-4 cooks and...

Grill Grates vs Blackstone V. WTF BBQ?

I use my 22" Adventure series Blackstone almost every day. Mostly breakfast. Sometimes dinners. I bought the hose to convert it to use the 20lb propane bottle. As @Elias said...Off is a burner position also. I really like The Flat Top King on YouTube. He has different griddles and uses...

    Spatchcocked turkey on 380x

Depending on how fast you want it done, I usually run 225 if I am not in a hurry to 325 if limited on time. Keep a drip pan 1/2 full of water under the chicken (on top of the deflector) to catch the drippings. I have calibrated the temp probe on my 380x with a Thermoworks Square Dot. With no...

New Smoker Owner - Prep for Clean?

Heavy Duty Aluminum on the drip pan for sure. I go to Costco and get my Heavy Duty foil because I use it a lot and it comes in 500 ft rolls. But the Reynolds Heavy Duty works real well. Lasts 3-4 cooks unless I cook a lot of fatty foods. I cook all the time on my grills and my oven is now a...

    New grill

I believe the warpage on the griddle is from using cold water. Most metals will warp when hot and adding cold to it. I am not defending them as it should be addressed, but that is a common error. Cast Iron would slowly warp and not jump like that in the video. I did notice it came back flat...
