Grill Grates - yes or no?

I don't think it's the grill grates at 500+ degrees. But I do find that if you reverse sear and smoke at a low temp for an extended time prior, the 380 produces a bark on the outside of the steak, making it a bit chewy. Particularly on a filet, which I don't enjoy. If I want some smoke...

    Bullseye 380 Internal Temp Probe

Yes. I've used it both ways and it works fine. I did bore out the hole though as it was less than 1/16" and it works fine as well.

    Bullseye 380 Internal Temp Probe

Thanks for the response. Yes, I have a Bullseye and drilling it out seems a no-brainer.

    Bullseye 380 Internal Temp Probe

I use the internal temp probe quite often, and it works very well for me. But with some cuts of meat, I prefer to place the probe in the meat outside of the grill so I can better place it. Unfortunately if you do that the plug is just slightly large enough that it won't go through the hole on...

Bullseye Recteq B380X Pellet Grill Review

I've had very good luck with the previous Bullseye and would not be without it. Just make sure you clean the firebox occasionally. Sorry to hear about this one. Could never justify the price for the B380X. Wonder if others are having the same luck?

    Bullseye Bullseye modifications

Just seeing this, but an excellent idea. I love seeing innovation with simple, available solutions. Now that you've made this mod, tell us how effective you think this has been in creating indirect heat?

Bullseye Has anyone received or used the new RT-380X yet?

When the 380X was first announced, it really got my juices flowing, but after some consideration, I'm not sure. I would never use the 1000 degrees. Oh' maybe a couple of times just to see it work, but not frequently, much like me not using RIOT mode all the time. I don't think this grill is...

Any ideas how I can fix this boo boo?

Not sure how this works on Powdercoat, but I have cleaned many Weber gas and charcoal grills that have ceramic coating with normal oven cleaner. Results are amazing. Like brand new. I would find an isolated area on the powder-coat to test first.

    Bullseye 380X decision

Please point me to that thread. Sounds really interesting. Also, do you think you could do it on a B380 (original) also? Clean-up would be a little different, but a shop vac could clean up the mess, even without a clean-out. Right? And would this be lump charcoal ala ceramic grill, or...

Bullseye I just got the bullseye and was woundering if anyone has heard about the Royal Oak charcoal pellets.

I’ve used them but as others have said the charcoal is mild when running them through the hopper. But as an alternative I have used regular pellets in the hopper and burn the charcoal pellets in a smoke tube inside the kettle. This imparts much more charcoal flavor. You have to experiment, as...

    Bullseye 380X decision

So, when does RT finally put the 380X on the website for sale. Are they waiting to sell out the old inventory? Seems odd that so many supposedly jumped on the $699 price at the fest. From $399 to 699, seems like a steep climb.

    Bullseye 380X decision

So. based on RT history; do they price recorrect for mis-reading the market. Or do they press on and have poorer sales? The current 380 is $499, with frequent sales of $399, even $349. So, I can live with a list price of $599 for the 380X, with specials at $499, or occasionally $450. Do...

    Bullseye 380X decision

Haha! I've always found that people who have money are the ones that know how to hang onto it. That being said, there are several features I like. WIFI for sure. A sturdier cart with better wheels. And believe it or not the folding work shelf. Unless you have an extra table, the top of...

    Bullseye 380X decision

I’m a current 380 owner and love it! Does just what I wanted it for. Have had it less than a year, but I really like the improvements added to the 380X. Only thing is the $800 price or $700 currently I guess. Pretty high for a kettle grill. So those of you who have been around longer than me...

Bullseye FedEx just dropped off my new toy

FedEx literally dropped off my Bullseye at the porch several times. Quite a bit of damage. All taken care of though. I just think if RecTeq could get the packaging and shipping solved they would have allot less warranty issues. Love the grill, but I must admit, I am eyeing the new one. Enjoy!!

    Coming soon?

Wish it was not $800 but allot of really good new features. WIFI PID. Folding work tray, which was really needed. Seems like a larger hopper. Dust/ash clean-out. Lower shelf. Taller cooking surface. (Wonder if the original cover will still work?) Probably would never run it at that temp...

Bullseye Found this in the hopper today.

Sorry for your troubles. I love my 380. Not always perfect, but a great system for my wants. As some have noted if the hopper was dry, but wet at the entrance to the auger shoot only, then it would imply that the moisture came from below. Not sure where you live or how humid it is there or...

Bullseye Manually operating auger on 380

Thanks for this, but I have already read this and I don't see anyplace where it discusses manually operating the auger. Can you please point me to it?

Bullseye Manually operating auger on 380

Is there a way to manually run the auger to add pellets to the pot and fill the auger track without firing it up? Many P-Grills do and this greatly decreases the start up times, particularly if you have ran out of pellets and are starting fresh.

    Bull Newbie Questions

I can't address No. 1, but as far as No: 2 It is reasonable to expect that both extruded aluminum and cast iron will hold more heat and thus be hotter at the metal surface. Both materials have more surface area and density. I have heard on other posts that the differential can be as much as 50...
