You definitely made a good choice. I’ve had my Bull for two years and couldn’t be happier with it. By comparison with the food I was producing with my charcoal kettle, my results now are incredible.
I agree with others comments that these types of forums also attract complaints, but in my...
I am a “ham guy” but tend to go with beef, fish, and other types of pork. I would greatly appreciate a referral to comprehensive instructions on how to brine and smoke a ham or a camp ham.
That looks great BTW.
SmokeZilla (love that name BTW). I’ve been a tort lawyer throughout my career so my exposure to the Uniform Commercial Code has been minimal at best. I don’t practice products liability law as a huge part of my efforts either.
Frankly, over something that I view as a small issue, I’m not...
I completely agree about the common sense aspect. I was surprised when I couldn’t start my Bull without going outside my house, but I am confident I’m up to walking the 30 feet to my side-porch to manually get things going. 😎 Especially because my RT-700 performs exactly as advertised and I get...
Problem apparently solved. I suspect that this was a self-inflicted wound that occurred when I used the test mode to cold smoke cheese. My thinking is that as I was moving through the various test parameters to get to the blower setting, I must have inadvertently turned the dial on something and...
lol. That is exactly correct. I work full time. But things have also changed a bit. I replaced the small handful of pellets in the firebox in case they were damp. Tried to fire the Bull up again and it worked ok. But it “struggled” to reach 425 which has never happened before (even in seriously...
Hello All. I out the firebox by hand, used a shop to scoop up all the accumulated ash/dust , etc., recharged the fire box with a small handful of pellets, then I smoked a whole chicken. No problems. Now, my et-700 refuses to ignite at all.
Any suggestions?
Thsnks
Do think that could be frozen without degrading the flavor or the firmness of the fish after cold smoking??? Here’s why I’m asking: Ocean caught salmon is a huge favorite in my household. Personally, I’m more than a bit dubious about “farmed” fish for any number of reasons, including, but not...
Thanks for all the input. I (hopefully) put it to good use. I have another eight days to wait before we taste test the first experiment. In the meantime , I have another question.
I smoked a block of cheddar and a block of havarti for three hours and by appearances, the smoke tube put off...
Thank you for that very detailed and informative comment. You also hit on one of my concerns about a “faraday cage” effect given all of the stainless steel in my 700.
I think I’m going to go with the three probe version because the third probe will allow me to monitor the internal temperature...
I’m considering ordering the Chef IQ three-probe, blue tooth meat thermometer, but before I spend $150.00 I think it’s a good idea to ask if anyone here has one, or has had any good or bad experiences with it.
Any thoughts /comments will be app,
Hello From Dayton! I’m just about ready to venture into my first cold smoked cheese experiment and I’d appreciate any observations, tips, etc., you’d be willing to share.
I’m going with a sharp cheddar and a softer cheese (havarti), first time around. My wife loves havarti but I’m concerned...
Welcome ! If you’ve been trying to smoke low and slow meat on any propane grill, IMO, you’ll come to see them as them as the “Lousy-Bake” oven by comparison with your pellet grill.
I’m just fired up my Bull and forgot that I had left a pair of stainless steel tongs with rubber handles in it. Needless to say the rubber melted.
I was able to pull, most, but not all of it off the grate.
Now I’m wondering if I’ve poisoned the interior of the Bull with combusted petroleum...
This response may be a little off topic, but hopefully not egregiously so.
I often see whole packers priced very attractively at Costco. I seldom see just a point or a flat though.
I love brisket, my family loves it when I smoke it, but there are just three of us in my house (my wife, me, and...
