if price isn't an option that texas company is now in the market with pellet grills. Lonestar Grillz... I have a 700 and think i will go in that direction when it is retired.
I wouldn't worry too much about some of the negative vibes here on RT. My personal view (not a fact - an opinion) RT was killing it 3-4 years ago with personalized service. High customer service ratings. If you had a problem you truly could call the owner and tell him. They express mailed me a replacement shelf and a box of swag when my one small hinge was bent in shipping. They cared a LOT about their product brand. We all knew it was made mostly in China... had a quirk but when you compared it to Traeger/Camp Chef and others RT really blew it away.
Today i think it has fallen a bit. They were acquired and people are experiencing cost cutting that happens with all newly acquired companies. BUT... the key is that i think most compare RT to RT of old versus to the market. I still think RT compare very favorably to similarly priced smokers. Most of the beef is that they don't correct issues the way they used to. They aren't as responsive. And like any retail company they are focused on sales in the short term versus brand long term. I would still absolutely pick RT over Traeger/Camp Chef....
Grilla Grills are nice too. They are a Michigan company. Maybe a little less overseas but still some... And have not been acquired... YET!
And for the direct question.... BIGGER IS ALWAYS BETTER. You can cook small on a smaller smoker... you can't cook bigger on a small smoker.
