Have you come to peace with the cover from ReqTec? Has anyone found an aftermarket cover that works decently with the 700? I really want something that is super easy on and off and have heard some complaints about the factory cover fits like a glove and some tearing.

Thanks

Yes I don't understand the issue either. I think some are a little too impatient. There's definitely a process, but it's pretty easy. Some have added zippers though, and there is actually a youtube video on how to install/remove. Search the forum here if interested on the zipper info.

It’s the same with my blackstone cover, very tight. My question is why so tight in the first place. I don’t understand why manufacturers can’t make cover a little bigger. It would be a fractional price increase at most. Now my kamado Joe cover is perfect. Slides right on and off with plenty of room to spare.

I’m pretty happy with the cover for my Bull with smoke box, but there is a process to taking it on and off. It also seems to be more difficult to put on if I have had a couple of libations with my meal! There are a few older posts here with pictures of covers modified with a zipper, and that would be a nice upgrade if you know someone to do it at a reasonable cost.

I also use the Bull cover, and while it is a tight fit I found that going slow the first few times you use it to avoid a rip you get a system down that makes getting it on and off pretty easy. I'd buy another one when this one has better days behind it. Quality is much better than most store bought fits all covers. Just my opinion.

As others have said, have to take your time to avoid tearing it. That said, it IS a wiff on RecTeq in my opinion. You really should not need to need to be so careful or need YouTube instructions for covering / removing cover from a grill. Just put another inch or so of fabric into it and problem solved. I bought a no-name from Amazon for my Blackstone griddle and that thing is amazing - goes on and comes off just as it should, which is to say easily.

Has anyone else had the cover over the WiFi antenna come off with the cover?

I turned our WiFi pointed down
This solved many issues it caused before I turned it

I bought a generic one from Lowes, for pellet smokers, I have the smoke box on my 700. It fits perfectly and I think was under $50. I'll see if I can track down a link.

I bought some cheap rubber corner protectors off Amazon for sharp corners of the PID. Works great.

When I first got my cover I felt the same way. "Why do they make it so tight and hard to get on/off?" I always had to get help from my husband to put it on. Now as everyone else said, it took just a couple times, patients and understanding.. but I have a system now and can get my cover on and off in a minute without tearing it by myself. ( I have the bull-no smoke box).
I sat one day and figured out my system by taking it on and off a cple times. Its easy once tou get the hang of it and honestly I like the way the tight fighting cover looks on my deck!

The John Deere lawn tractor cover from Lowe’s does an excellent job. Very easy to put on and take off. Best cover I’ve used on my RecTeq.

Got an aftermarket cover for my 700 off of Amazon & never been happier. Loved the look of the factory covet but IMO it was a complete pain in the ass

I watched the RT Video and came to the relatazation .... even THEY are doing it wrong ! ! !
Watch the Video and for putting it on, reverse the "taking it off" steps .... works GREAT !
