Hi I have my 590 connected to my phone, after a few problems getting it connected. This morning I looked at my WiFi extender, and only 1 light was blue/power was on..I then check my grill and the red light was still solid, but I was NOT connected to my phone. So I unplugged the extender and then plugged it back in again, all lights were blue, but I was NOT connected to the Rec Tec App. on my phone. So I uninstall the Rec Tec App.and then reinstalled it, now it is working once again.
I was under the impression was when the red grill light is a solid red I should be connected. Does anyone know what is going on with this?
Thanks Dan
PS I was a little worried when I lost connection, because it was a MPIA to get the 590 connected to my phone, the 1st time.

Maybe the grill connected to your main router when the extender went off line thus the solid red light on the controller, not sure why you had to delete the app and reinstall it again to get it working. You definitely have had your fair share of wifi issues, I feel for you. Question do you ever turn your phone off to reset it? Doing this phone reboot regularly clears things out when stuff start acting wonky and the phone reboot usually takes care of them.

Hi At times I do turn my phone off, but I never did reset. When I checked on my computer Tap Link/extender was not connected. Now it looks like it is connected.
One day this week I get to do battle with my Fireboard. Not looking forward to it.(y)
Thanks Dan
PS I use the Fireboard with a fan on WSM to control temps.

May be a little confusion here. The grill only need to "connect" to your phone with the initial configuration. After that it connects to your network and not specifically your phone. The solid light could simply have been it connected to the extender but the extender was not passing traffic correctly hence its lights. So agreed the extender needed rebooting (most do and should be done monthly anyways). It may have just taken a few minutes for the grill and the extender to reestablish connection after reboot and had you simply just waited most probably would have been fine. The only other thing i would have checked was did the phone have local wifi access at that point. If no then reboot the phone, if yes then a little time would have fixed it. Once the grill is configured, nothing you do with the phone app changes the configuration.

Hi I didn't reboot the extender unless unplugging it then plugging back in is considered a reboot. I think the extender wasn't working at that time., because I check it on my computer.
Thanks Dan

Hi All I wasn't home today but I got a call from Rec Tec, wondering "IF" I did get my grill connected. He mentioned something about my facebook post, funny thing I don't think I posted it on Facebook. May be he saw it here?? The message didn't come thru clear! I did get it connected.

Hi All Well this morning the same thing happen..My extender was only showing the power light on & Rec Tec on my phone was offline. So I unplugged the extender and plugged it back in all lights came back on, but the Rec App was still offline. So uninstalled and then reinstalled the App. Now the App. online once again, on my phone..
I shouldn't be having to do this every day??

No you should not, what extender do you have? The lights can mean many things and without knowing what those lights are and what they are identifying have no way to venture a hypothesis.

Remember that the extender creates a new WiFi signal. Be sure you are connected to it. Also turn off your VPN after starting the connection process if you have one.

Hi Here is a manual for my extender. This tech stuff has pass me by.

No worries, thats why you have friends to help. Tp link gear is interesting, some of their early years stuff had over heating issues (not uncommon to cheap small electronic gear). Next time you have that issue, send me a message with what the lights are showing. You can post back to thread but i may or may not see that, when you send a message it sends me an email that i will most certainly see. Depending on what the lights are doing will tell us what if anything we can control is happening.
