The model I purchased in 2021, FireBoard 2 I believe has an analyze tab. Under the analyze tab is a predictive option that will calculate the estimated time left for the cook to hit the internal temperature set. I use it for pork butts and briskets when I cook overnight.
I use a FireBoard with every cook. I love it and has helped me immensely. How was it on the lonestar? Did it have the prediction feature to it? If they add this to RT it will make it more valuable IMHO
I recently cooked this full packer of 17lbs on my 700. I smoked it for 15/16 hours. Rested in a cooler for approximately 4 hours.
I wrapped it in butcher paper when the internal temperature was 165 and pulled when IT at 203°. I was very impressed with the flavor, bark and final results.
If I’m not mistaken, Green Mountain Grills (GMG) started using DC with their new models about 2 years ago. I would look at them only if you want another option to compare. I would still choose recteq, hands down.
YMMV but I have had great results on my bull. Here’s some examples. I tend to smoke everything at a higher temp 250° to 275° overall. But I start at a low temp to get max smoke. My brisket take about 10-12 hours. Butts about 8-10 hours. I use lumber jack and bear mountain pellets.
