    Where’s the smoke ring?

This is what I do. Also a link to the page where I answer some questions. https://www.recteqforum.com/threads/how-far-ahead-to-season-a-brisket.5624/#post-75850 Long winded and no paragraphs. Sorry. I have been smoking briskets since 1994. I started with an offset stick burner. Bought a Bull...

How far ahead to season a brisket?

Sorry for the late reply. My alerts do not tell me when I get a reply. Yes, I separate and stack them so they appear to be one big piece of meat. Thin to thick to make it level. I find that it helps keep the flat from drying out.

How far ahead to season a brisket?

Yes. It speeds up the process by a few hours.

How far ahead to season a brisket?

Long winded and no paragraphs. Sorry. I have been smoking briskets since 1994. I started with an offset stick burner. Bought a Bull when it first came out. I always seasoned and applied rub just before the cook. Did it that way for 10 years. I always had the smoke ring, the tenderness, the pull...

Bull A lot of extra smoke while warming up

Mine does this every time I fire it up. Traegers do this too. I think they all do. I leave my lid open till the fire is burning strong and then close the lid. Takes less than a couple minutes.

    Bull Extra Smokestack

It has been almost 8 months with the extra stack on the Bull. The pellet usage has not changed. I still go through the same number of bags as before and the temperature has evened out across the grill. Still a little hotter on the ends, but not by much. The grill holds steady temps, as I also...

I feel that it helped. More even heat across the grill. Good circulation both directions. It looks good too.

Your thoughts about RTV High Temp Sealer VS. LavaLock Gasket Tape or similar?

Sorry for the late reply, but my alert feature is not working. I agree 100 percent and will add, you also need a free flowing exhaust to get it all. And I think it looks cool.

Your thoughts about RTV High Temp Sealer VS. LavaLock Gasket Tape or similar?

I did it on my Bull. I used the red high temp on the lid and wax paper on the barrel. Let it dry for a day and trimmed it. I noticed temp problems, like it would occasionally swing wide. This grill needs to breathe for it to function properly. I ended up removing the seal and the grill settled...

    Testing brisket

He's putting it in an igloo type cooler to let it rest. Not a refrigerated cooler.

    Bull Extra Smokestack

I got it from RecTeq. I ordered one for the 700 Bull. I would assume they are the same on the BFG. They did not send the bolts and nuts. I had some of my own. So you might want to get them too.

    Bull Extra Smokestack

I used a jigsaw, with a stainless, fine toothed blade, with 32 threads per inch. Taped up the outside with masking tape and laid out the hole with a black sharpie to match with the other side . I drilled a 3/8" pilot hole inside of the layout for the hole, and had my niece spray a plain water...

No need to do that. Works like it is supposed to.

    Meat probe dishwasher safe?

I fixed some probes once, that my girlfriend had cleaned and got them wet. She let them soak in the sink. They would show 150 to 200 degrees in the kitchen at normal room temperature. I put them in the oven at 300 degrees for an hour and let them cool. Worked like a charm.
