    Food Probe Issues

Not sure if this is a freak thing, a coincidence, or what but I also noticed, after tightening the nuts, that I had to readjusted the temperature offset back to zero. It's been set to +12 for the longest time to keep the temperature set to what an external thermometer said it was. Who knew :)

    Food Probe Issues

Hello all, just to update, today was the 1st I used the grill since asking the question. I did find that both nuts had to be tightened no less than 1 full turn. I'm halfway thru the smoke and there has been no crazing readings. Thanks for the heads-up on the lose nuts. :)

    Food Probe Issues

Thanks everybody, I've swapped probe A and probe B, I've replaced the probes, twice :) What I haven't done is check the nuts on the probes. I will and check back in. Thanks again.

    Food Probe Issues

I've noticed an issues with my "B" probe while cooking. At times, the temperature will rise over 100 degrees just on probe "B" and eventually returns to expected temps after messing with it, unplugging, reinserting. I've swapped probes, replaced probes, and it still does it. Before I look...

What settings do you run your 340 at?

Had to drop my feed rate to 3.0 Also, you may want to use a separate thermometer to verify your temp setting is correct. I would also calibrate your probs just to verify.

    Storing Wood Pellets

I was thinking something like this with a removable or resealable lid would be cool :) Perhaps a 16 or 20 gallon size with and ice scoop. Edited: I sent RecTec an email with my idea a little while ago, I didn't hear back. I like it. LOL

    WiFi issues - RESOLVED

Had the same issue. Not sure if this 'fixed' it or if it was just the 6th or 7th time trying that did it. However, in my home network I have a few different extenders or access points. My iPhone was connecting to a different access point than my RT340, but on the same network. When I...

    Hot Burning Pellet Brands

Interesting, I wonder if it's just the blend? I had my feed rate adjusted to 3.0 prior to this. Since this adjustment was done, and the grill in under a covered patio, I figured I had everything covered to keep a steady temperature. The only thing that had changed at the time was the pellets...

    Hot Burning Pellet Brands

The above story is an abbreviated version. :) I replaced the pellets in the middle of trying my 1st pork belly burnt ends with the SmokeHouse brand, since I was running out of pellets. Since the temperature went up once these pellets started to burn, I had to adjust the time for the burnt ends...

    Hot Burning Pellet Brands

I had a thought. After making adjustments to keep and maintain a steady temperature, I finally ran into the "trying a different pellet" thing. I had picked up a bag from Costco that I thought I'd try since I was running low on pellets. I let the hopper run empty, while still having pellets in...

Calibrating probes. Advice or information appreciated

I recently tested my RT340, I threw a thermometer in the grill and preheated it. The temp was pretty much dead on but thats easily adjusted if needed. I followed the video on calibrating the probes except I added throwing a separate thermometer into the ice water with the probes and made sure...

    Probe readings

Hmm, I'm testing this now. I'll see if or by how much mine is off. :)

    Probe readings

The probes were the last thing I thought of needing adjusting so yesterday I watched the video on how to adjust them and then found both Probe A & B were off 9 degrees so I adjusted them. Good thing is I dont have to mark one of the probes LOL

    Rec Tec app

Glad I could help, the graphics mode probably made the biggest difference, OpenGL seems to slow everything down LOL
