Recycling the old grill’s side shelves:

....and just bought a new in box RT-340 for $500 on offer up to replace the father in law's dying gas grill... it was too good of a deal to pass up!! Yes, I am fully infected with the recteq bug now... :p

First cook was Mac n Cheese, chicken thighs, and chicken drums. Thighs turned out best! Rubbed them with Tuscan Garlic seasoning. Best chicken we've ever had! This thing is no joke!! I figure it will pay for itself in about 3 months since we'll be eating out and ordering door dash much less!

Honestly the delay in the shipping allowed me to read this forum and avoid the first day setup pitfalls. With all the tips on Wi-Fi setup, first burn, and horns up or horns down tomfoolery everything is running smooth! Thank you all!! First cook is tomorrow, wish me luck!

Sounds like recteq needs to open a west coast branch. Would really help with consistent shipping. 12-15 business days as normal shipping time is just too long in this day and age. And then when there is a weather delay, one month to a major city is just not a sustainable business model.

I hear ya! But we're heading out camping this weekend, so I'll just wait for the delivery. If we were home this weekend, I'd be at the terminal tomorrow morning!

I used to have the WSM and loved it until I had kids, then who has time to tend to that thing? It does make amazingly great smoked meats, which is why I bought it in the first place. I would consider the WSM a good choice if you are wanting to tend to it, like at a competition, or if you don't...

For all of you that have been following with baited breath... After sitting for 10 days in Reno, it took less than two days to get to Seattle once if finally got out of there! I'll be receiving home delivery on Tuesday! :)

Yeah, I've been in contact with customer service and they are staying on top of it. Interesting how they don't state anywhere how long shipping is anticipated to take when you are ordering, other than to refer you to the shipping company. The shipping company has transit time at 5 days, but...

Is everyone out here having this same issue? My rt-590 and 200lbs of pellets has been sitting in Reno for almost two weeks and SAIA has stopped updating ETA.

I ordered on December 12, and the rt-590 has apparently made it to Reno, but I'll be lucky to see it before the Super Bowl with the weather delays that are now taking hold in the Northwest...
