Both of my sons have the Meater + and I have the Meater Block. They say not to expose the probes to direct heat, but my son has used his on an open fire and it worked great with no issue. After he first used it he called and said that it was almost like "cheating" almost impossible to screw up...
Pit Boss is a piece of junk. Won't hold temperature and mine caught on fire and nearly burned my house down. I filed a warranty claim with Pit Boss and they never even responded to it. I have had the RT 700 for several years and it is by far a superior pellet grill.
Take them to your driveway and pressure wash them. I know others that get a big flat container and soak them in dishwashing detergent overnight to loosen the stuck on food and grease and then pressure wash them.
Get the cook book by Aaron Franklin. My briskets were a disaster until I read his book. Basically he cooks hotter 275 degrees, keeps a water container in the pit for moisture, does not wrap until the brisket starts to come out of the stall (most wrap when they hit the stall temp). Double wraps...
Pre-heat cast iron skillet. Drizzle a little olive oil, salt and pepper over the asparagus on a sheet pan and transfer them to the cast iron in the smoker. I usually go pretty hot here 400 degrees or more. Cast iron has its own benefits in terms of flavor and char, but the added smoke is...
Can you friend at Smithey hook a Charlotte, NC brother up? Been looking at their pans for months and have not pulled the trigger yet. Multiple Lodge in all sizes and once seasoned very good cast iron, but the Smithey cast iron is a thing of beauty.
It is probably not your router. I have a google mesh wifi network and it would not originally connect to RT700. I had to rename my verizon hot spot with the same SSID as my google wifi guest network including password to match to make the original connection. Turn off your router and connect...
Had the same issue and found it was a weak signal to the grill because of short antenna. I extended my mesh network and solved the problem, but there are several post on the forum where RT-700 owners replaced their antennas with after market wifi antennas to solve the problem. If you can move...

This does the trick. Use 90 proof rubbing alcohol and soak starter pellets in a shot glass for about 5 minutes. Drain excess alcohol and start in smoker tube. Let it burn a full 9 minutes and then...
I am a fairly new Rec tec owner, but had a Pit Boss almost burn to the ground because of pellet jams and the Pit Boss controller is not great at handling temp swings (nice way of saying it sucked). I have been burning the Traeger (Hickory, Cherry, Maple Blend) and have used about 100 lbs at...
I would clean the grill and start without the drip plate. Let it come up to a low temp and stabilize. Bump up the heat and figure out if you are getting pellet jams as it attempts to feed more fuel. If any of the pellets got wet or damp it is possible they expanded in your auger and are...
I have a google wifi mesh network and the RT-700 is installed in the back yard below deck level and the Mesh signal was terrible and connection to the Rec tec very spotty. I found this outdoor waterproof wifi cabinet on Amazon as well as a refurbished wifi mesh point and it solved my problem by...
Scrape the heavy stuff off with your brush and when you have the grill hot 400 degrees or so, use you bbq gloves and cut an onion in half and scrub the grates cleans, the onion also puts a barrier on the stainless to help with clean up after the next cook. I saw this from the attached video and...
