Heh...they blamed me for all of their problems too. I use a weber for my hot stuff and my rectec for my smoking stuff.

I went through the same dog and pony show with them. Blamed it all on me. All gimmick.

I tried to use my Rec TEC for everything but it was very frustrating waiting for it to get to temp (and sometimes never did). January I went back to using my 10 year old genesis for grill stuff and use the Rec TEC for smoker stuff.

Right there with you. My rectec just doesn't get to high temp consistently and takes forever to get there. My weber is to temp in no time. I wanted the all in one for everything, but that doesn't work. I use the smoker for smoker things and the grill for grill things.

What did you mean gaskets on the lid? The answers they came back today was to remove the foil under the grates, clean the smokestack....what they don't seem to understand is the iterative nature of things...it either works all the time or doesn't...and if it doesn't it's not because I have foil...

I have not tried that. I'll give it a shot. At this point, I'll do the hokey pokey to get it to work.

I just switched over from RT Ultimate blend to the Kingsford with the hope they help get the heat to set temp quicker; Not sure they get to temp quicker but they certainly are good
