I’m thinking about a 590…
I see you can control/monitor through the app.
Are we talking Bluetooth here, where you have to be fairly close, or does this link to the internet, similar to BBQGuru?
I much prefer the latter, as you can monitor from anywhere.

WiFi and goes back to recteq servers. The notifications have been problematic. I only use the app to monitor temps. I did't get the 590 b/c of the app. I got it for excellent customer service, build quality and amazing temperature control.

I have a 590 and wifi means wifi you don’t need to be near your grill. Hell you don’t even need to be in the same time zone. Now this is of course as long as it’s not a holiday 😂

You can control it from anywhere, except a faraday cage.

I have not had any problems with the wifi on my 590 in the two houses we have been in. The bullseye is another story.

As a matter of fact, yes! @Lilbullowner is our resident guru for firmware upgrades. He's also a CPA and can assist with all your financial and GED needs (y)
My brother is a CPA. he's a dik. He's broke too. The only reason he has anything is because he has received divorce settlements from two different women that were the breadwinners in the family. Each of them finally got sick of him and paid him to go away.

Being a CPA doesn't hold much sway with me............

BTW, wutz uh GDE ?

But, this isn't any ordinary CPA, he's special.

I have no idea, sorry. I had a hard enough time trying to spell it.

There are a couple of posts about upgrading the WiFi antenna on the grilles.
I have a 590 and have a post on here on replacing the antenna. Get a whole lot better signal than the original 2” antenna.

I followed @Jim6820's advice and upgraded. It works fine. I found one thing interesting and that was that the new antenna didn't have the center pin sticking out like the old/stock one did. I went ahead and mounted up the new one and it works with no issues.

That may be a problem.
You need that male center to connect properly. There are two types of antennas, those with male center pin and those with female center.

Yeah, that's what I thought. But.....what little that does protrude appears that it is making contact with the face of the female surface and I'm getting full signal strength. I don't have any way of making a comparison between signal/reception strength between old and new, but the new antenna seems to be working fine (if not better than the old).

BTW, there were two antennas in the package from AMZN and they both appear the same in that they don't have a male "extension" "pin".

And, I didn't throw away the old/original antenna......;)
