Got my bfg yesterday morning we got it all put together and did the burn off last night. seams to be built well and hope it serves us well. we have had alot of problems with pit boss and decided to come over to the rectec side. Could someone tell me what the hex rod is for in the top across the stack holes? and how do i calibrate my temp probes as they both ran about 40 to 50 deg cooler than it said it was running last night for the hour at 400

Not sure about the hex rod, but the process to calibrate the probes is in the manual. However, if both probes gave you about the same reading, you might need to change the grill offset instead (also covered in the manual). BTW, the best way IMO to test probe accuracy is in an ice bath.

Thank You Greg i will try it out when i get home going to try and cook on it tonight

The hex rod is for hanging meat, i.e. sausages and such. Be curious what you think of the smoke generation with you BFG.
