Just set up my new Rt-700 and it won't connect to the app. With my router from xfinity it automatically gives me the fastest speed and I am not able to change the speed to 2.4 in the advance settings, for it connect to the app. Any one go thru this and if so how did you get the workaround for it to work. Thanks

Same issue here, haven’t found a workaround. So haven’t used the app unfortunately.

I believe the problem comes from your phone being on 5ghz. Both the phone and grill have to be on the same band (2.4) for the initial set up, after that it doesn’t matter.

Some folks have moved their grill as far from the router as they can then go even farther away with your phone. If you walk back to you grill from a distance sometimes it holds on to the 2.4ghz so you can set it up. Otherwise I’d call Xfinity or RecTeq customer service to get help.

Depending on how much you like to tinker around with router settings, and which equipment you have, this Xfinity webpage may help.

Good luck.

Ok xfinity people...here is the fix.....call up xfinity and have them set the 2.5 gh band and the 5 ghz band to different names. that way you can choose the band you want. DO NOT let them tell you that it cannot be done. That is how I have mine setup....albeit for different reasons....but My wifi shows the bands on different names. Now you can pick the 2.5 ghz band on your phone then open the app and connect everything. Once it is connected and set up...it doesn't matter what band your phone is on it will always work.

So I chatted with customer support and with the grill in sight I moved so my WiFi signal was 2 bars and it connected really quick! Didn’t need to move the grill just my phone. Yay! Thanks for all the help!

This is absolutely correct! I have my Xfinity networks set up with different names and it works great.

This was my next step. I didn’t change any router or WiFi settings. I just moved within the sight of the grill till my WiFi signal went to 2 bars. And then it connected. No settings were changed!
