RT-1250 Shipping Damage

Yikes, my order showed up last week and here is what my new 1250 looked like. The 1250 competition cart, bullseye and 340 I also ordered were all in very good to excellent condition.
Good news is one call to recteq this morning and a new one is supposed to be on the way later this week. Nice customer service. Bad news is I have to figure out how to get it all back into the original shipping boxes. Ugh. I didn’t open and unwrap everything with the thought I would be wrapping it back up again.

This is the bottom of the grill with the damage on the controller side.

Bummer.. was the box damaged noticeably? Hope the replacement arrives ok.

I'm not surprised. Was the carrier Estes? It took two weeks for my bullseye to be delivered to Indiana. Why in the hell would it have to go to Dallas, then St. Louis before arriving in Fort Wayne. It sat nearly a week in Nashville before it headed to Dallas. My skid had been stabbed by the time it arrived but I only lost some pellets. Of course I complained about their choice of carrier, same as I did when it took my 700 forever to arrive.

My money is on it being Estes. No call, no email, etc. for two weeks. Tracking said it had been loaded, but that's it. Instead a pallet brilliantly labeled "RecTeq" (i.e. "Come Steal Me") dumped in my driveway with a torn up box (but no damage to my 1250). They didn't even have the common courtesy to ring the doorbell as I was home the entire time, but the pallet was in the driveway blocking my wife's spot. I called RT and frankly the 12 year old I talked to on the phone is unapologetic saying that the shipping service is out of their control, (but to call back if anything is damaged). Sorry about your damaged stuff. It's rough starting a relationship with a new company that way.

Yup you guessed it, Estes dropped it off in my driveway without a phone call or anything. I found the two pallets sitting there when I got home from work. The invoice had blown off the pallets and was sitting in my lawn stuck next to some of my trees. I was glad we weren’t out of town. The box the 1250 was packed in was badly damaged as was the pallet. Some of the wood pellet bags had large rips and had leaked about 25% of the pellets out of them. The bullseye had a single hole in the box with a paint removing scratch on the hopper but otherwise was in good shape. The 340 was fine without damage.
I just find it frustrating that Estes can’t do better than this and recteq can’t or won’t find a better shipping company. Recteq was absolutely fine with making it right with one phone call but the replacement grill better come in better shape! I guess it is good to have first world problems.

EXACT same thing happened to me and my 1250 last week… Estes finally delivered it only to find a huge dent in the same location as yours. I believe a fork from a fork lift was run into it. Good news is I got my new one today and all is good.

Damn, I got my email on Tuesday that Estas had my 1250 and I'd get a call shortly. Honestly, I can't place blame on recteq. The entire shipping/freight world is a disaster right now. I'll be surprised if I see it in two weeks actually but I hope they don't damage my grill.

Wow that really sucks!

And I thought that I was the only one. We got a call from Estes about 3 days after our new 700 got to a terminal in VT about an hour from my home. They advised it would be a week for them to deliver. We agreed that I would come to them and take it from there.

When they got it off the trailer the pallet had been reduced to a couple of sticks and portions of the box looked very bad. I too, it home anyway. I took pictures of the unboxing and was amazed to find the only damage to my new 700 was a bent bottom shelf. The rest was perfect in spite of what the box looked like.

One call to Customer Service and a new shelf was on the way. Terrific response from customer service and pretty darned good packaging from Rec Teq when you think about what that package went through.

I‘m very pleased with the 700 and with Rec Teq.

Not surprised. My Bull was fine from estes but my 340 from ups was dented pretty good. Called recteq and said to use it till I received the new one they were sending out. Ups crushed the second one also but I made a good 340 out of the two sent and had ups pick up the prices.

My 1250 was delivered Friday afternoon. I have read about some delivery nightmares on here recently so I was concerned. I gotta give recteq and Estas shipping props. I ordered late Sunday night and it came Friday. The driver called my Friday to tell the exact time he would be at my house. He looked at Google map imagery and we talked about where to drop it and how best to turn the truck around on my property.

Unboxed and it is perfect. Assembly and I'll be ready to cook some beef tomorrow.

My 1250 arrived yesterday and was in perfect shape. The box was perfect as well. The RT-340 was packed on top of the pellets which were on top of the 1250 box and has some external box damage, but I haven't opened it up yet to make sure there is no damage to the grill. I plan to open and assemble it this evening or tomorrow evening.

Sorry to revive this thread, but I just experienced the same thing with mine. Estes was the shipper.

The front portion of the grill is dented, which warped the spots where the legs goes in.

Recteq ships these on a pallet to prevent such damage... Somewhere along the way, somone removed the pallet, and likely used a hand truck in the front of the grill.

That shortcut just cost everyone money.

They will offer you a rub to accept it 🤣 ..

Seriously.. I hope you are getting that replaced.

Recteq is apparently a slow learner! If I was running a business where I was constantly replacing items damaged in shipping, I’d be looking for a new shipping company.

That said, I’ve had two RT grills delivered by Estes and the only damage I experienced was one bag of pellets torn a bit by contact with adlacent grill parts.

That stinks.
I just received the 1250 and 340. They were in perfect condition (box was slightly torn on the surface. I was really impressed with the packaging and ease of unboxing. And I'll put the pallet to good use.
