Who uses Req Tec pellets?

$16K won't even cover my taxes here.

You need to vacate then.

I've only used ReqTeq pellets since buying my 590 in March 2020. Amazon delivers them directly to my door.

I just got a 200# skid of recteq Ultimate Blend pellets for $186 shipped (Red Oak, White Oak & Hickory) for my RT-700 which I have had for only a few months. That is .93 cents per pound.
• 100% pure hardwood
• No fillers, binders, or preservatives
• High BTU (8500 average)
• Low ash production (less than 1%)
• Made in USA

If Pitt Boss is as good a quality as others are saying Pitt Boss sounds like a really good deal at .38 cents.
What hardwoods are in the Pitt Boss? Does it have the same "features" as recteq listed above?

Do you have another Walmart near by? I have 3 within 5 miles of me. They each seem to stock a different selection of pellets.

You could also order online and have it shipped to your store for free if you get your total over $35.
Walmart online is selling 20# bag of pecan lumberjack pellets for $54.33 and char-hickory lumberjack 20# bag for $43.48 , both do not include shipping Their online prices for all pellet brands are crazy!

I use Pitboss comp blend in all 4 of my RT'S with excellent results and consistent pellet size.
Cheaper and better in many ways, I live about 15 miles from RT HQ, I can get their pellets any time I want them. I live 5 miles from Walmart and they have Pitboss all the time.
I jammed an auger on my 700 once with a 2" long pellet prolonged the cook about 2 hours, so consistent size matters. Pitboss size is consistent and the flavor is too.
Remember Firehouse sub pickle buckets store pellets securely for over a year.

Enjoy!

If you click on them and look they are sold by 3rd parties. The pecan is sold by One Stop Web and the char-hickory is sold by Leo's Jewelry and Gifts. So Walmart doesn't have anything to do with those prices.

I tried them originally when I got my 700...wasn't very impressed. In my opinion Lumberjack single wood flavors are the best. And Lumberjacks in general, are the best "over-all" pellets. No base wood or fillers in the single wood. Bear Mtn is a second place.

Don't disagree. I use Bear Mtn because I can get them down the street from me.

I can get Lumberjack at Dicks, but it's 20 miles away, and I haven't shopped there since they made a big show of stopping the sale of AR-15s in their stores. 🤷

Maybe? I don't know that High BTU and low ash make much sense to me as "desired features".
But this depends on your goal, today I used bear mountain mesquite to smoke some jerky for 4 hours at 180/LO, and it has a nice smokey flavor, almost over-smoked..

I then did some ribs, had about a 1/2 lb or so of mesquite left in the hopper, and added 5 lbs or so of recteq ultimate, burned for 5ish hours at 225, and yeah the results were fine, but I was left wanting for smoke, so I don't see myself reaching for the recteq ultimate blend much in the future, and I certainly wont be buying more considering how much cheaper bear mountain and pitboss are and how much better the flavor is with the cheaper pellets.

As already pointed out by someone else, those are 3rd party sellers. Plus I was replying to the person that was looking for Pitboss pellets which are the same price at walmart and walmart.com. You just have to get to $35 on walmart.com to get the free shipping.

I honestly don't know how companies like Bear Mountain make any money shipping just a couple of bags. especially when they have a sale. Last BM sale I got 4 20# bags shipped for $51. They must get one heck of a discount with fedex or the pellets cost nothing to produce.

Anyone use the Smokehouse pellets from Sam's Club? $15 for 40 lbs. I'm still in research mode (leaning toward the 1250 now...), but wondering if it's worth the discount on the RT pellets to pull the trigger or if I still wait until Black Friday in hopes of something like the Matador offer. In the meantime, I'm now also researching pellets quality / pricing to keep me busy.

My favorite, you have good taste in pellets 👍

I got 200 lbs from Recteq with my RT-1250 order for $100. That’s a $75 discount. Do I need to add a smoke tube while using those? I’m still waiting for my order to arrive so I’m not familiar with that brand of pellet, but it sounds like they are more for heat instead of flavor.

I've never gotten a good smoke flavor from my RT-700. When I asked around, someone suggested a smoketube. Somehow, I just don't get the flavorful smoke like I have with my wood smoker.

I've used Treager, Pit Boss, and Jacks. They all seem the same so I've started using the cheapest which is Pit Boss from Walmart at $8.97 / 20 lb bag. Anything more and you're just wasting your money, IMO.

That's cheaper than what I get. It's probably about the same as req tec, treager, or some of the other more expensive brands. I get Pit Boss it's down there in price.

IMHO, the pellets that are closer or above $1 per lb are not worth the extra money. I used Pitt Boss once and they were fine but a lot of dust in the bag I will say.

I've used cookingpellets also and lumber jack. I did notice cookingpellets produced less ash than lumber jack but besides that, didn't notice any smoke taste difference.

My general rule of thumb is keep the price around 50 cents per lb. I live in the Chicago burbs and either go to Farm and Fleet or Rural King to get Lumber Jack. They both are slightly below 50 cents a lb.

Last time I was at Rural King(just the other week), they had their own brand which their blend was the exact same blend as Lumber Jack so I figured it was the same manufacturer. So far so good with those. Those sell for $7.99 for 20 lbs.
