does anyone have a podcast about smoking they like? i have tried several but its just interviews with comp cookers keeping secrets. i would enjoy one thats more informative about techniques and tips rather than stories. let me know if you know of anything like that.

I have listened to several, and malcom reeds how to barbecue right is by far the best, imo. I am a novice, more advanced folks may find it boring.
There is a fair amount of comp circuit talk in his podcasts, I tend to skip those parts. If you want a good preview, listen to episodes 3 and 12 in the first season (2018). Tons of pearls in both.

i love watching the rec teq guys cook. alot of great ideas and they are fun to watch. crazy group of guys. i like to podcast when im traveling and i will definitely check out yalls suggestions. thanks alot. if anyone has any other good ones let us know please

We watch all the recteq videos here also-very informative and entertaining, although in particular Jody’s used car salesman-like pitch can get tiresome. I understand the point of the videos is to educate, entertain, and sell so enduring the sales pitch is a small price to pay.

Baby Back Maniac and T-roy Cooks are pretty informative. Not a Lot pellet specific cooking, but solid fundamentals.

Malcolm Reed covers a very broad spectrum, from backyard grilling to comp. I skip the comp stuff and focus on the backyard/every day smoking & grilling videos. He has a lot of different smokers, and often the time/temp doesn’t translate from smoker to smoker. Regardless, he’s very knowledgeable and my favorite. And he doesn’t hard sell his own brand of rubs and sauces. I did try some of his sauces and rubs and liked them a lot, but I usually make my own rubs. Mad Scientist BBQ is my second favorite. Great personality, but he rarely touches a pellet smoker (not sure if he ever has).

I try to watch the RT videos, but they can be long and often short on details, I wish they would put recipes with the videos, it would be helpful!
There seems to be alot on you tube, I listened to these 2 this morning on the way in. I am doing a brisket this week and all my focus is on that!

Brisket for Beginners TheDawgfathasBBQ It was very good as he walked you through and very detailed.

12 Brisket Mistakes This is the Mad Scientist BBQ He actually did a good job explaining the different types of grills, differences.

I just pick up bits and pieces here and there. Still get most and the best info in this forum!

They have a mailing list that I think reflects some of the recipes from the videos. Been a while since I read thru them but I recall some were more detailed then others.

Seriously though...

I would do the resting differently though. Let it come down in temp outside the cooler to around 150, then put it in the cooler with lid. Let it rest... the longer the better, as long as the internal temp never falls below 135.

I agree, it's more of a YouTube topic than podcast topic. The RT ones are OK, but they are really long and don't cover some of the important questions. I like Matt from Meat Church, mostly pellet grilling, typically a 5 to 15 minute watch, he uses his products but encourages you to use what you like. I seem to always find his recipes if I want to follow directly. His rubs are awesome.

Malcolm is good to. I get a lot from Hey Grill. Good stuff out there!

i have been listening to the grill coach podcast and its pretty good. has some pellet grill info aswell as charcoal. but will be trying the suggestions above also
