Shelf for Rec Tec Trailblazer

After looking at everyone's great ideas, I bought the SS folding brackets from Amazon and I decided to buy a Aluminum diamond plate 12 x 24 x 1/16th, Looks and works great. I spent about 30 bucks with the SS hardwareView attachment 2127View attachment 2128View attachment 2129
Great looking mod. I was just wondering if the 1/16th in diamond plate is of sufficient thickness to provide a surface that is sturdy and without any flex. Thank you.

Yea, it seems OK, you could go thicker. But I felt that since whatever I'm cooking will be in some sort of a pan it wouldn't make a difference.

I have a plain shelf I made for the traeger so transferred it to the 340. It holds my utensils, grate cleaner and wiping rag. BTW, those untensils are Craftsman and close to 30 yrs old and were a gift from our son.

Starting to gather the components to copy what you did. Looks great. 2 Questions if you don't mind. Do you find that the 1/16th thickness on the diamond plate is sufficient? And second, did you round the front corners or did you purchase the plate like that? If you did it yourself, how did you do it? Thanks for the reply.

It seems thick enough for me since a big pan or plate is sitting on it while I'm cooking, as for the corners I used a cutting wheel on my angle grinder to round the corners, cut to size and smooth all of the edges.

Does anyone know of a shelf that will fit the front outside of a Trailblazer?
Just finished my front shelf for the 340. Used 12" folding shelf brackets from Amazon. Used 12X24 SS shelf from Webrestaurantstore. Worked out pretty well. While I have no intention of needing to collapse the legs for transport, I do not believe that the placement of the screws will interfere with the legs when they fold up. Not sure and I don't intend to test out that option.View attachment 6765

Nice clean look. Is that the 16 or 18 gauge shelf?

It is the 18 gauge and for me it is more than sufficient. There is no flex in the shelf at all.
Thanks! Lots of great ideas in this thread and others, but I think I will go this route. Simple, clean, and low maintenance.

Couldn't find something in stainless that would be suitable at HD so I made one from some leftovers in the shop. Hopefully the glue doesn't soften from the heat.

Well, I have been on the fence with this one for a while, but the wooden collapsible table I have been using has pretty much seen its better days. I went this route and am anxious to try it out. I wasn't able to locate any diamond plate around my area, so I got the shelf from Webrestaurantstore. That, along with the 12" folding brackets were a little more than I wanted to spend, but I just got tired of looking around for stuff either not available, or not in stock. Photos and review to follow....

I was able to get the shelf installed over the weekend and it's working out quite nice. Got the brackets from Amazon and the shelf from Webrestaurantstore, as indicated in the above threads.

The shelf comes with welded on studs, but they wouldn't work with the brackets I got. I was able to get some small flat brackets and put in some studs and connect onto them, that way I didn't have to drill into the shelf. It is a nice piece of stainless.

Thanks for all of the great ideas!

I just upgraded from the RT-300 to the 340.
On the 300 I had a folding shelf for the Lil Tex mounted on it ( part # BAC341)
Mounted the shelf from the 300 to the 340 this morning.
You use the original front leg screws and you have to drill a few holes in the legs of the RecTeq and use some self tapping screws..
The legs won’t fold after this mod tho.
My grill is a stay at home grill.
