Handle gaskets?

I just got a new 700, and in the packaging were two rubbery foam discs, that were the exact same oval as the shape of the base of the horn handles. They even have two holes in the same locations as the screws. However there was nothing in the instructions regarding these, nor have I been able to find anything online about them. Are they just packaging and need to be discarded, or is this some kind of heat resistant gasket that should be installed between the handle and the lid to prevent the handles getting hot? Picture attached.

Where did you find those gaskets? I didn't see them in mine that I got yesterday, so I need to go through all the packaging again.

I think they were in one of the smaller bags along with the "manual" (i.e. the page with the QR code), but I can't remember exactly. Kind of sloppy that Rec Tec doesn't have any documentation of the installation of these gaskets. Speaking of packaging, how miserable was it getting the fasteners out of that clamshell plastic abomination? And although it's pretty intuitive which bolts/nuts/washers go where, the paper with letters labelling each of the groups of fasteners was completely irrelevant as the assembly instructions had no reference to them.

those are the gaskets that go between handle and lid, you can go in youtube to watch the assembly video for BFG, i'm sure for the handles is the same for all their grills.

Do they look ok in my pic in post #3?

I don't remember getting or installing the handle gaskets when I got my Bull a year ago. I would tighten the handle fasteners as tight as possible and recheck after a few cooks, my handles definitely don't have the gasket showing like the picture you posted on my Bull.

Maybe RT will send you a pair.

that's it!! I had a really hard time putting the handles on...

Well I went ahead and installed them. Will be interesting to see if I notice a temperature difference in the horns ; in my burn-in and first cook of a pork shoulder (which came out amazing, by the way) the handles were too hot to touch except for the distal third

i watched the video on you tube for installation... i didn't get a manual with my grill...
I downloaded my manual & printed it. Doesn't say anything about the gaskets. They were in bags with the bull horns.

Agree I never saw the instructions and never received the gaskets, the horns even without the gaskets on my Bull stay plenty cool even at higher temperature cooks as long as you grab them at the end of the horns.

Mine were taped to the outside of the foam surrounding the handles (not inside with the handles). If I hadn't been like a 5 year old tearing into Christmas presents, I would have seen them the first time. Glad I found them, though they may not make much of a difference judging by others comments here.
